Since we each have experienced a unique life based on our unique beliefs (and thereby perceptions), the descriptions vary. Some spirits have indicated that they were immediately greeted by a loved one who then crossed them over. Others have indicated that they reached the other side on their own and then met with loved ones. Sometimes loved ones on THIS side have crossed their loved ones over, as validated by those in spirit through private readings.

"Do children "grow up" in heaven?"

Although our physical age is no reflection of our spiritual enlightenment, children do continue to grow and evolve in the realms of spirit. When a child returns to spirit, he brings with him the culmination of his Journey, no matter how brief that experience may have been. The lessons learned during physical life enhance his development in the spirit world.

"Is there a "heaven" and a "hell?"

"Heaven" and "hell" are terms that attempt to acknowledge various levels of consciousness. These terms have also been used to control the masses. There are dimensions of consciousness and we gravitate to a realm that is similar to our own consciousness at the time of our passing. Just as the Universal Law of Magnetic Attraction applies to our experience here on earth, so too does it apply to the spirit realms. Heaven and hell, therefore, are quite simply states of mind.

"Is there a judgment of our behavior on earth?"

We are given guidance, support and insight while reviewing all aspects of our lives from the afterlife. However, judgment of these experiences comes from within you. There isn't an authority figure that judges you and thereby determines your fate. We review the choices and experiences of our lives in order to grow and evolve.

All people go to a place that is a direct reflection of their soul's abilities, beliefs, lessons and experiences. Hitler and Mother Theresa no doubt would not be sharing a spiritual plane of existence. However, Hitler certainly has the ability to evolve to where he, too, could reach a realm of equal or greater consciousness as that of someone like Mother Theresa. Since consciousness evolves, Hitler's soul would evolve toward enlightenment ... just as yours and mine do.

The question of Hitler comes up often in spiritual circles but we must remember that the consciousness known as "Hitler" did not act alone; many people surrendered their power to him, enabling him to do the things he did, thereby co-creating a horrific experience of segregation and ignorance.

"Do you always reunite with your friends and relatives? What if you do not want to be reunited -- do you have to?"

The choice is yours to make once you reach the other side. Consider this: the soul you might choose to "avoid" on earth is the soul that offers you a powerful opportunity to grow in spirit. You would review this lesson from your soul's perspective and inevitably reach a place of forgiveness and compassion toward that soul. Once you recognize the gift you and that soul exchanged (or chose to ignore), you would then be presented with an opportunity to embrace in the Light of recognition and gratitude!

"Do you retain your consciousness once you reach the spirit world?"

Absolutely! Our lives ARE a manifestation of our consciousness.

This is yet another reason why it is so important for us to go within; we can create our lives consciously and deliberately instead of so often creating unconsciously and unintentionally. The perception of "innocent bystander" and/or "victim to life's circumstances" is fast giving way to the co-creative perspective of spiritual empowerment. This is why spiritual enlightenment and personal empowerment have become global priorities. I believe it is also the reason the world of spirit has drawn increasingly close: to remind us that we are active participants in the creation of our lives and thereby can not passively live each day as if we had no choice. The purpose of our lives is to live them, fully and consciously, and to awaken to the Spirit within all things. Once we reclaim that identity, we then see this Identity reflected in all things and then create a world which fully reflects that Consciousness. Of course, it is in our hands to choose ... a life of Divine Purpose to which we are A Part, or a life of random chaos to which we are ... apart.

If your desire is to experience reunion with your pets, you will have that opportunity, especially when you "re-member" that your pets are simply individuated aspects of your "Self." I know ... let that wash over you a while.

My belief is that the "you" that is here, now, would not enter into another physical body. However, an aspect of your consciousness (say, a part that had trouble with addiction) might benefit from experiencing another physical incarnation. In this case, your spirit might create a persona that would benefit from experiencing a life focused on understanding and dismantling the root causes of addiction.

They can if it is not going against that individual's personal karma or blueprint. Another great reminder to us to ASK for the help that we need.

You can communicate with your loved ones in whatever manner you feel most comfortable with. That may be through silent prayer, loving thoughts, spoken or written word. Spirit receives thoughts and feelings through the images of your heart. Even if you do not receive validation immediately, trust that there is no "better way" to communicate than through love. I cannot tell you how many times spirit has shown me the place-setting you created for them at your table, the cake you baked for their birthday, the tree you planted in their memory. They receive these loving gestures because they remain connected to you through the limitless nature of love.

"What does it mean for a spirit to be 'in the light?'"

The "light" is the higher perspective we each are moving toward. This can begin to manifest when we have seen a bigger picture regarding our life's journey. Being "in the light" means we have attained a perceptual union with what some term the Christ Consciousness, the Higher Self, the Holy Spirit, the Mahatma, the Buddha, the Divine, or any other number of terms. Whatever words we identify with this experience, it is a state of consciousness attained after reviewing and healing the perceptions of many lifetimes.

Some refer to this process as the "Life Review"; others term it "Judgment." Most important to me is that we not view this as a higher being passing judgment upon us, rather as the God Within recognizing and expressing acceptance and understanding for the choices we made in light of our soul's purpose.

As a medium, I have connected with many spirit people and have come to understand that it really is not a question of "light" or "dark" -- more so a matter of being a "witness to" or "embraced by" the Light. The light we seek can never be found outside our selves ... it is forever within. It becomes a matter of claiming that light within or seeking it outside our selves, where one path leads to enlightenment, the other to further illusion.

In a nutshell, to be "in the light" is to be embraced by enlightenment. We are all surrounded by the light because "the light" is "Who We Really Are."

"When has enough time passed for a loved one to communicate with me?"

Depending on their ability to express and articulate their ideas in life, the degree of their spiritual awareness and the intensity of their relationship to you in life -- these things will also determine their ability to clearly communicate from spirit. So many factors determine how well a soul can communicate after passing that there just isn't a pat answer to this question. You are the best judge as to if and when a reading is appropriate for you.
