Reiki is
comprised of two parts:
- The "Rei" - meaning Universal
Wisdom or Higher Spiritual Consciousness. This is the wisdom that comes
from God or the Higher Self. It is an all-knowing wisdom, meaning that it
understands every person totally and it also knows the causes of each
individual's problems and difficulties. Along with that comes the
knowledge of how to heal them.
- "Ki" - also referred to as "Chi"
or "Prana" is known as the Vital Life Force Energy or the Universal Life
Force. As long as we are alive, there is life force flowing through us.
When our life energy departs, quite simply we die. If our life force
energy is low, we become ill. It is the "Ki" that animates our bodies. It
is also the primary energy of our emotions, thoughts and spiritual life.
So, it is the Higher Spiritual Consciousness of "Rei" that guides the life
energy called "Ki" in the practice of Reiki. Therefore, we define Reiki as
spiritually guided life energy. That's how most people experience Reiki, as
well. The practitioner simply facilitates the energy for the client. The Reiki
guides itself to the areas in need of healing. It is in our best interest to
keep our "Ki" high and free flowing. This can be done quite simply through the
use of Reiki.
When our "energy" is high, we are
less prone to feel the effects of stress (the number one cause of illness and
disease in the body today). We are more likely to manifest good health, have a
balanced state of energy and creativity. Reiki helps release emotions and
stress, and promotes relaxation while working on the "causal level" of
disease. It is the simplest and yet most life-changing modality I know of.
Since Reiki is also about accepting
responsibility for oneself, our health and issues, it is definitely
recommended that a Level I Reiki class be taken as soon as a person feels
ready. By doing so, we are able to tap into the Universal Life Force
ourselves, thereby, facilitating healing energy for ourselves on a daily
basis. This is the best way to utilize Reiki's healing ability. "Physician
Heal Thyself" is a very powerful statement. While we all wish to help others,
the best example we can set is one of accepting responsibility for our own
healing.
Reiki takes no special talents
and can be learned by everyone, regardless of age, race, belief system or
religion. It is everyone's birthright. Reiki has several levels or degrees:
- Level I is taught in one 8
hour day. In this class you will learn the history of Reiki. You will
receive an energy attunement that will open your upper energy centers to
facilitate this lovely healing energy. We will discuss Reiki's uses on
animals and we will give AND receive a full one-hour session. A period of
3-6 months is recommended between Level I and Level II. This allows the
body's energy system to become familiar with the Reiki energy and it gives
the individual time to use Reiki and adjust to the changes they may be
experiencing. The fee for this class is $150.00 Click Here to sign up!
- Level II is taught in
either in one 6-hour day, or 2 classes of 3-4 hours each. The student
learns 3 of the 4 symbols associated with Reiki, their uses and how to do
"absentee healing" - or prayer with a flair, as I call it. We will do an
'absentee' session, so I ask that each student bring a picture of someone
they wish to do a session on and that they have express permission to do
an absentee healing session. I will also share 2 non-traditional symbols
in this class. 6-12 months is recommended between Level II and Level IIIA.
The fee for this class is $250.00
- In Level IIIA, the student
learns both the traditional and Tibetan master symbols, the Violet Breath,
and more. You will also learn to do a Healing Attunement - a wonderful
adjunct to a Reiki session. This is especially helpful for people who are
feeling 'stuck' in a situation or blocked in anyway. We will do
meditations using the symbol. Lots of practice time doing the Healing
Attunements included, as well as discussion pertaining to setting up a
private practice, if the student wishes to do this. All materials that I
use in my own practice are available to students at this level. The fee
for this class is $300.00
- The Reiki Master Teachers'
Training is specifically for those who wish to dedicate their lives to
Reiki and teaching others this wonderful healing modality. This class is
held one day a week for several weeks at the end of which each individual
has a complete class manual for every level (I, II, IIIA and Children) and
everything they need to go out and begin teaching immediately. The fee for
this class is $1,200.00.
I have been
teaching Reiki for several years. It is my belief that we grow and change
through using this healing energy. It is my intent that upon completion of
Reiki Master Teacher training, my students will have everything that is
needed to begin teaching ~ all manuals, paperwork, etc.
I cannot teach you how to teach - I can 'teach'
you how to attune others, how to set up classes, put your name out there,
etc. Learning the material, experiencing the energy ~ quite frankly, that
is your job. Even after you have finished training with me, I am readily
available to assist you in whatever way you wish. I do not 'require' that
I sit in on any classes you are teaching, nor do I insist that you sit in
on mine. However, I also do not discourage anyone from sitting in at any
time. I encourage you to learn the material, experience the energy and
trust that you have exactly what you need AND that there are people RIGHT
NOW who need what you have to offer.
I ask that you do not follow me - as I may not
lead. Do not walk ahead of me - as I may not follow. Simply walk by my
side - together we will learn and grow. What begins as mentorship or
teacher/student, when given the opportunity, blossoms into friendship.
